Invisalign Bella Vista
Invisalign Crows Nest, Bella Vista & Sydney
Sydney Invisalign treatments are growing in popularity due to how easy, comfortable and virtually transparent they are. The aligners made of Smart Track material are a quick and efficient solution that “can” help to reposition teeth after a relapse from fixed orthodontics, and/or for those with mild to moderate crowding/spacing or bite issues.
Invisalign is a staggered treatment that requires the patient to wear each aligner for approximately 10-14 days with a minimum of 20-22 hours/day. Oralux Dental in Bella Vista & Crows Nest will fit the aligners for all our patients and provide a specific number of aligners to take home to achieve desired outcomes, which means they are responsible for the overall success of their treatment. Invisalign is a home-based treatment, which means you have to be committed to your treatment and it can take an average of 12 months depending on case to case. During your treatment we will be seeing you for regular check-ups to ensure the results are on track and the teeth are repositioning well.

The Benefits
The main benefits of Invisalign are:
Measuring and Making Your Invisalign
During your consultation with Oralux Dental, we will take x-rays, photos, impressions, and a ‘bite record’ of your teeth. These will help us evaluate your suitability for Invisalign and put together a 3D representation of your teeth.
We will then use the latest imaging technology to work out how to move your teeth so we can create your desired alignment. The movement of teeth is done in stages, so any amount from six to fifty aligners may be required to achieve the best results.
When you come in for your appointment, we will show you a digital representation of your treatment plan. It will show you visually of how teeth are going to move during each stage of your realignment.
Your aligners are made from the world’s most advanced Smart Track material, each individually made and laser trimmed. This translates to accurate fit and completely unique to your mouth and teeth. By applying the right amount of pressure, each aligner will move your teeth around gently and predictably without damaging your enamel or gums.

Fitting Your Invisalign
Once your aligners have been prepared, you might need small, tooth coloured composite attachments applied to some of your teeth, which helps to rotate or pull them down. This is sometimes needed because the plastic aligners aren’t as rigid as traditional metal braces, meaning the flexibility needs to be compensated for in areas that require additional movement. If you need any of these extras, your Oralux dentist will discuss how and where they’ll be placed.
During Your Invisalign Treatment
We will see you and fit your aligners with necessary adjustments every 6-8 weeks. This ensures your aligners are doing the correct job and we can closely monitor your treatment each step of the way. You will receive our full attention and care throughout your entire Invisalign journey. One of the biggest considerations you’ll need to take into account before choosing Invisalign is whether you’re prepared for the commitment involved.
The time of wearing the aligners places an important role in treatment result. Our patients need to be committed to around 22 hours a day wear time. Looking after them is imperative for your oral health, as well as their overall appearance and effectiveness. You should clean the aligners with toothbrush after brushing your teeth and at least rinse your mouth and the aligners after food each time. As you will only take out your aligners to brush, floss and eat, carrying a spare toothbrush, toothpaste and mouthwash throughout the duration of your treatment is advised.
Just like how to maintain healthy teeth, excessive sugar in food and drinks should be avoided. Coloured drinks such as coffee may stain teeth as well as aligners. So we recommend consume them with the aligners out.

Aftercare
Once your Invisalign treatment has concluded, in order to avoid tooth relapse, you will need to wear a retainer during day and night for a short while and then during your sleep for the foreseeable future. We also recommend a fixed retainer on the back of your teeth to avoid relapse.

Risk Factors
At Oralux Dental, we do our best to mitigate the risks of Invisalign and ensure the best possible outcome for your treatment. Invisalign is designed to move your teeth around like traditional braces, so the risks involved are largely the same. Shortening of the root is the biggest cause for concern. However, with improvements in technology, this is a fairly uncommon occurrence with the right dental supervision.
Other risks that involve during an Invisalign treatment, poor oral hygiene and aligner care, smoking, staining, and even breakage or splitting – all of which can be mitigated by appropriate maintenance. You need to remain committed to the best possible outcome for your teeth to ensure Invisalign’s success.
